The only true freshman on this Purdue roster, Colvin is headed to campus with high expectations as one of the best athletes on this roster. A second generation Purdue Boilermaker, Colvin was the 97th ranked recruit by 247 composite rankings, and played for team USA under nineteen team over the summer. He is a talented wing that provides the combination of athleticism and shooting that pops of the screen during Colvin's highlight tape, but let us take a deeper look into Colvin as a complete offensive player.

Colvin's athleticism make him a dangerous transition scorer, he is so athletic that he can operate at eighty percent effort and still weave his way past defenders towards the rim. Once at the rim, he uses his verticality to finish over defenders. In the half court, his shooting and screen usage utilizes his athleticism to create separation from his defender. This screen usage will be very important for Purdue's second unit. In a lineup without a sharpshooter that will space the floor, adding Colvin's shooting ability and movement could unlock a ton for Purdue's bench. Having another talented scorer will be vital for Purdue in March, making their offense more robust to the different defenses that they will play outside of the Big Ten.

His impact will rely heavily on his role usage and the players around him. As a young player, Colvin struggles to make passing reads as a ball handler and as a connecting piece. This causes some delays in the offensive flow, and leads to him being stuck without good options. Additionally, his physical frame reduces the margin of error on drives - bigger defenders are able to knock him off of his line and he struggles to finish through defenders as most young players do. I am hesitant with these critiques of Colvin because I am extremely confident that as he matures, a lot of these areas will be improved. He has all the tools to become a high level NBA prospect as he develops his sturdiness and ball handling abilities.

The player comparison for Colvin's offense is Trey Alexander of the Creighton Blue Jays. The impact that Trey Alexander brings to the Blue Jays is primarily scoring, but the mannerisms that Alexander scores still allows for other players around him to be efficient. This is because he is a very quick decision maker when he touches the ball, shooting or attacking closeouts with a burst that allows for him to fit next to high volume offensive players, such as Braden Smith.

Overall, the combination of physical gifts and shooting for Colvin will allow him to make an instant impact off the bench for Purdue this season. In the following season, Colvin's role will grow as he develops to be more aggressive getting to the rim and making decisions off of the advantages that he can create with his athleticism.
